Briggs first flight...

was to Arichat, Nova Scotia to see mom mom and pop pop. Langston counted down the days until our flight cutting one link off the chain each night before bed...he was SO excited about getting to ride airplane. Both boys did amazingly well and I have to say it was pretty much stress free traveling for me - it's all in the preparation! The temperature dropped to 9degrees and we "enjoyed" our share of snow while back at home the temperature rose to a summery 83 - who would have thought?! Briggs started sitting up while we were there and his first tooth made an appearance which thrilled my mom.

We arrived home late last night and the trip already seems like it was too long ago. Even after 12 days together one day apart makes me miss my parents. I keep telling them they need to move closer, but so far they just haven't listened. Time with family is truly priceless.

Count down to mom mom & pop pops!

The count down has begun. Every night we tear off a green link, once we get to the yellow link that means we go on an airplane the next morning. Langston hasn't flown since he turned two so this, plus the added child is going to be an experience for all!

The Pumpkin Patch 2010 - Carrigan Farms...

Our first official trip to a pumpkin patch, vines and all. When Langston was 6 months old we went to a sorority house in Chapel Hill that had pumpkins for sale, but this was the REAL thing. We took a hayride, pet animals, drank apple cider and hiked thru the field to find four perfect pumpkins!

Langston is holding his pumpkin (left hand) and mine (right hand), daddy's is the biggest on the ground and Briggs' was so small I put it in the diaper bag!

August 31st 7:47am

Briggs Mitchell was born weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz., 19 1/4" long and absolutely perfect!
It's hard to believe he is already 2 and a half weeks old it's been an amazing 2 weeks, a little sleepless but amazing none the less. Langston is adjusting to being an older brother, he doesn't quite understand being gentle yet, but he gives lots of kisses and is all about helping! We are a family of four and I am blessed to be the mother of two precious boys!

8 days until he's a big brother...

hard to believe Briggs Mitchell will be here next week. Langston "understands" as much as a two year old can. He knows that after daddy comes home on the airplane mom mom is going to come, then mommy and daddy are going to the doctor and the doctor is going to get baby Briggs out. Then mom mom is going to play trains with Langston until mommy, daddy and Briggs come home and baby Briggs will live with us. That's been the routine conversation for weeks now....

I'm ready, actually overly ready. I find myself doing things that don't need to be done now but for some reason this feels like the opportune time to go thru old files and make trips to Good Will - trips that consiste of 2 articles of clothing. Everything is washed and in place, I haven't packed my bag yet or put up the pack n plays but it will give me a little something baby related to do this week.

This weekend Langston and mommy enjoyed a Saturday together riding "the train" - he doesn't knows it's the Charlotte Lynx to him it's just as good as Thomas. One more weekend for him to enjoy being an only child and then he will be Briggs' big brother!

The Fountains at Birkdale

Last year he wouldn't go near the fountain, he was the little boy walking with a bucket around the outskirts...times have changed. After spending an hour at the fountain he actually ran straight thru the center...every curl was soaking wet...and then it started raining!

This is my favorite, he had just been hit by a "jumping" stream of water...his expression was priceless.
